Magnesium Marvels: From Stress Relief to Skin Perfection, It Does It All

Magnesium

In our journey towards holistic wellness, we often overlook one essential mineral that plays a pivotal role in our overall health – magnesium. It's like that underrated friend who's always got your back but doesn't get enough credit. Found abundantly in nature and crucial for numerous bodily functions, magnesium deserves a spotlight in our self-care routines. As a natural skincare company deeply committed to promoting well-being from the inside out, we believe it's time to explore the transformative power of magnesium and its profound benefits for our bodies and minds.

WHY MAGNESIUM MATTERS: THE LOWDOWN ON THE DEFICIENCY DRAMA

So, here's the deal: lots of us are running low on magnesium without even realising it, and the consequences can be more significant than we might think.

Research indicates that magnesium deficiency is a widespread issue, with approximately half of individuals in Australia, the US and Europe falling short of recommended intake levels.

This deficiency isn't just a minor hiccup; it's a serious health concern with far-reaching implications.

Magnesium deficiency

Our diets are packed with processed foods that are about as magnesium-rich as a cardboard box. And don't even get us started on stress – it's like a magnesium vacuum, sucking up all our precious stores faster than you can say "chill out." Plus, thanks to modern farming practices, our fruits and veggies just don't have the same nutrient punch they used to. It's like our soil's gone on vacation and forgot to leave us some magnesium souvenirs.

But here's the kicker: magnesium deficiency isn't just a minor inconvenience – it's a big deal. We're talking about increased risk of heart problems, diabetes, and bones that feel more like noodles than solid support systems. And when it comes to skincare, magnesium deficiency can turn your face into a battleground of inflammation, acne, and premature wrinkles. Not exactly the glow-up we were hoping for, right?

So, what can we do about it? Think leafy greens, nuts, seeds – all the good plant-based foods. And hey, if you're feeling crafty, whip up your own magnesium spray (DIY recipe below) or treat yourself to a luxurious Epsom salt bath. Your body (and your skin) will thank you for it.

THE SCOOP ON MAGNESIUM'S SUPERPOWERS

Magnesium is the ultimate superhero of the body!

You might think it's just another mineral hanging out in the background, but magnesium is the MVP of over 300 bodily functions!
Magnesium

We're talking about making your muscles work like a well-oiled machine, helping those nerves of yours fire off signals like they're chatting on the phone, and even giving your immune system a boost. And as if that wasn't impressive enough, magnesium's also the backbone (literally!) of keeping your bones strong and sturdy.

But hold on to your hats, because we're not done yet. When it comes to skincare, magnesium is like your secret weapon in the battle against all things dull and dreary. It helps your cells regenerate faster than you can say "glow up." And if inflammation has got you feeling down, magnesium's here to save the day by calming things down and sending those red, angry bumps packing. And as for breakouts? Magnesium's got your back, keeping those zits at bay.

So yeah, you could say magnesium's a bit of a multitasker. From keeping your body running like a well-oiled machine to giving your skin that radiant glow, this mineral does it all – and then some. So next time you're feeling a little low on energy or your skin's looking a bit lacklustre, just remember: magnesium could just be the pick-me-up you need.

MAGNESIUM: TOPICAL VS. ORAL - LET'S BREAK IT DOWN

So, how do you get your fix of this mighty mineral? Well, you've got options:

Topical Magnesium

Magnesium foods

Absorbed directly through the skin, topical magnesium bypasses the digestive system, making it an excellent option for those with sensitive stomachs or absorption issues. Also, applying magnesium topically allows for targeted relief, making it ideal for soothing sore muscles, alleviating tension, and promoting relaxation. It's like giving your body a big, cosy hug – without having to swallow any pills. Topical magnesium can come in the form of a spray or lotion.

Oral Magnesium

While oral supplements provide systemic benefits, they can sometimes cause stomach discomfort or laxative effects 💩, especially in high doses. But, you can also get your magnesium fix from delicious foods like leafy greens, nuts, and whole grains, which offer a gentle and nourishing way to meet your daily magnesium quota.

EASY-PEASY WAYS TO UP YOUR MAGNESIUM GAME

Fortunately, integrating magnesium into your daily routine is easier than you think. Here are some practical tips to help you boost your magnesium levels:

  1. Nutrient-Rich Diet: Load up on magnesium-rich foods such as leafy greens, nuts, seeds, legumes and whole grains.

  2. Supplementation: Consider adding a high-quality magnesium supplement to your routine, ensuring you choose a form that suits your body's needs.

  3. Magnesium Spray: Feeling crafty? Whip up your own magnesium spray using magnesium flakes and water. Add some essential oils for a spa-worthy scent, and voila – instant relaxation in a bottle. Recipe below.

  4. Epsom Salt Baths: Take a Dip with Epsom Salt: Treat yourself to a luxurious bath with Epsom salt. Not only does it help you chill out, but it also gives your skin a dose of magnesium goodness. #TreatYoSelf

  5. Kick out stress: stress messes with your magnesium levels, so incorporate stress-reducing activities where you can into your daily routine to support overall well-being and magnesium absorption.
